ANOTHER SUMMER ON THE SWAMP… Welcome to the most expected event of the summer, Swamp Soccer World Championships. This year we have 325 teams and almost 5000 excited swamp soccer players competing to succeed in the 2009 world championships. The matches will be played in 22 fields. We have more than 400 international participants in this year’s tournament coming all the way from Norway, Russia, Germany, France and The Netherlands. And don’t forget the rock music festival Swamp Rock, one of the biggest music festivals in Kainuu. Ukkohalla will be rocking to the beats of Finland’s hottest bands on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening. We are expecting over 6000 swamp soccer fans to come and enjoy the fabulous Swamp Rock party and it’s amazing performers. Interest towards the Swamp Soccer Tournament is increasing in Europe and all over the world every year. Small tournaments are arranged in several countries and this excellent sport is achieving fans and enthusiasts as we speak. The sport created in the town of Hyrynsalmi is becoming one of the most important touristic events in Kainuu. We want to wish you a great and an unforgettable Swamp Soccer World Championships 2009!!! UKKOHALLA TOURIST RESORT The World Championships in a nutshell The teams will be competing in business, competition, hobby, women, mix and adventure series. The adventure series contains two traditional swamp soccer matches and three other activities; cable wakeboard and two swamp activities. The swamp soccer matches in the adventure series will be played on Friday and Saturday. Cable wakeboard will take place in Ukkohalla on Friday morning at 9.00. The swamp activities will take place in the swamp arena on Saturday morning at 10.00. Two of the group stage games will be played on Friday and one on Saturday. There will be four teams in each group. The group stage games will start at 9.00 on Friday and Saturday. The last games will be played around 17.00-18.00 on both days. The business series finals will be played on Saturday afternoon. The champions will be announced and rewarded on the Swamp Rock Arena on Saturday evening.
